REEL #19: Be Confident

Why? Because all of the things you will learn on this path are doable… they are all anchored in the truth… and they work. There is no magic… no mysticism… just truth, and that is why this path is so powerful… because the truth is powerful. Also, you will have setbacks and so be mentally prepared for them. Progress won’t be a straight line; it will be a jagged line… and that is normal. When we have a setback, get up, dust your ass off and get moving again. Be relentless.

What If The Truth Is…

Unless you have a Serious Mental Illness… which is only about 4% of the United States… the first place you should look for an answer after trauma enters your life is INSIDE OF YOU… it is that BETTER VERSION OF YOU that will TRANSFORM your life. You can do every bit of it…

REEL 18: Trauma Is Messy

When a traumatic event occurs, it doesn’t just impact the people directly involved… it gets a lot of people. Family members, close friends, first responders, and social workers are all routine in the “bug splat” of trauma. You don’t have to be the point target to be in the bug splat… and to experience that traumatic event. That’s normal… and you need to know that.

REEL 17: The “Secret” to Living a GREAT Life… but You’ll Have to Watch the Reel

I’ve had lots of discussions with people who are struggling in trauma’s aftermath, and there is almost without exception a remedy for that struggle… but you’ll have to watch this Reel to learn what that is. When you think about the advice (“Work at it!), it seems stunning that most of us aren’t ever given that little piece of gold.

REEL 16: Viewer Questions — “Can I use this help a child?” and “You’re confident about this. Why?”

I was sent two questions over the weekend: (1) I’ve been watching your stuff. Can I use this to help a child? and (2) You’re pretty confident in what you do, why?  The short answers to those questions are: (1) Yes, absolutely! and (2) Because it works, my confidence is born of achievement… I’ve watched so so many people do this. And remember, if they can do it, you can do it too!

REEL 15: We’re More Fragile People After a Traumatic Event

It is not easy to admit, but we’re more fragile after trauma darkens our doorstep. We enter a strange world… we’re ignorant about this world, and life is difficult. We have a “Perpetual Tempest” inside of us… swirling… always… that is a combination of grief, anxiety, and anger… a very foreign world… and the skills that have gotten through life don’t seem to work here.

BUT… as we begin to learn about this strange world, our WISDOM helps us become STRONG, and it is this strength that sets us on this path From Trauma to Joy.

Reel 14, Commandment 2: Trauma is a Normal Part of Life

We don’t know this, because we’re novices in the Valley of the Shadow of Death… but trauma is a part of life. I have a saying… “Nobody gets through the car wash without getting wet…” It’s true. So you’re not unique, other people you know CAN UNDERSTAND YOU, and best of all, you can learn from them, you can help them, and you can still live a GREAT life!

REEL 13: Commandment 1 — You Don’t “Get Over It… Ever”

Reel #13 begins the study of the 4 Goals & 10 Commandments that take you out of the Valley of the Shadow of Death and ultimately to a place of JOY… if you will follow it. Understanding the complete thought and the nuances of this path is important… and there are three pieces of Commandment #1:

  1. You don’t get over it… ever (duh, right… how could you?!)
  2. When you struggle, all that means is that you’re a NORMAL human being and there is nothing WRONG with you.
  3. You can still live a GREAT life.

REEL 12: The Truth Is Big Deal After a Trauma Experience

Each of us experiences trauma as a beginner… as a clueless novice. It is in that space that we try to figure it out. Learning the truth about the world we’ve entered and our future is important; it is ultimately what puts us on a path to live great lives.

REEL 8: After a Traumatic Tvent, We Control Only One Thing

After trauma impacts our lives, as we begin to learn to live our lives in this strange post-traumatic world we’ve been launched into, it is important that we understand that we control only one thing… and that is HOW WE RESPOND to a traumatic event.

REEL 7: The Valley of the Shadow of Death… The Place That Trauma Sends Us

I call the place trauma sends us: The Valley of the Shadow of Death… It’s a dark, ominous, and scary place. Along with all of that, we are completely unfamiliar with that valley. BUT, like all that I’ve discussed in these reels, we can learn about that valley and ultimately leave it and live great lives.
